Please turn up, no need to book and you are free to choose a meal up to the value of £15.  This is an opportunity to find support from others in the same situation or just to meet up and have a chat. I look forward to seeing you there this Thursday.  The lunches will continue on the first Thursday of the month until Christmas, dates as follows: 7th September, 5th October, 2nd November and 7thh December.  If you can't make this one, please make the next!

The seated exercise will continue to run in August. This is in the Congregational Hall, Fridays 10.30 with Hamish a physiotherapist, followed by refreshments.  Please go along and enjoy a free session while they last!

The Coffee and Chat with a cup of tea/coffee is 10 til 11am in the library every Thursday.  If you like a board game, go along to the library on a Tuesday 2 -4pm to challenge someone to a game.

Don't forget the Cream Teas in the Vicarage Garden, Sundays 3.30 through August - the weather is going to improve!

There is lots more going on in the village. Please also go and ask/look in the library for more information.  There is a village diary on the church website which is also useful  https://www.mardenchurch.org.uk/specialevents.htm    And of course, keep your eyes open, there are posters everywhere advertising all sorts of events.

Guide Dogs My Guide Service

We are looking to recruit volunteers in the area to help support our My Guide service.  My Guide is a free service that helps people with a vision impairment get out of their homes and into the community with a volunteer as their sighted guide.

My Guide fully trains you as a volunteer, to provide confident sighted guide assistance, on a regular basis, to people living with sight loss, to help them achieve their goals, such as:

  • Access services in your community
  • Gaining confidence on public transport
  • Engaging with your local community

What Will I Get Out Of It?

  • Make a life-changing difference to someone in need in your community
  • An opportunity to build experience and knowledge of sight loss and develop your existing skills whilst doing something that you  enjoy
  • Help a charity do more while becoming a valued and integral part of the Guide Dogs team meeting with other Guide Dogs' volunteers

If you can spare a couple of hours a week and would like to know more information please contact the Guide Dogs team at Maidstone on 01189 838711 or email [email protected]
